Family Matern arrives with 4-in-hand Lipizzaner team

Much has been said about the journey of the four-in-hand team of Lipizzaner horses in May 2013 when Andreas and Ute Matern travelled from Heideck, Germany, through Austria and Italy to Slovenia. Andreas and Ute completed the 674 km long journey with no motorised escort in 23 days and they did it with a carriage driven by 4 Slovenian-bred Lipizzaner horses.
Of course, future plans were already in the making. So this year, the Matern family embarked on a new adventure: four-in-hand, from the Barbana Stud Farm in Globoko to the Lipica Stud Farm.

HORSES
Horses that made it all happen were:
– 415 Siglavy Capriola, gelding, 2004 (Pepe)
– 304 Siglavy Slavina, gelding, 2002 (Jože)
– 577 Bonadea XLV, mare, 2007 (Bona)
– 327 Betalka VII, mare, 2002 (Betalka)
This year, the Matern family came back to Slovenia with these horses and they made a 5-day journey through Slovenia and promoted the Lipizzaner horse. Their journey ended in the Lipica Stud Farm with a gala ceremony.
