On Monday, 6 May 2013, Ute and Andreas Matern finally set off on the carefully planned journey with a four-in-hand carriage from Heideck (Bavaria, Germany) to Globoko (Radovljica, Slovenia). They will drive for 674 km in their Stanhope-Phaeton with four Lipizzaner horses, bred in Slovenia, without anyone accompanying them. They will arrive in Rateče on the 26 May, where a large reception will be held for them at the Slovenian-Italian border in Rateče.
The start of the journey is a big relief for Ute and Andreas as they have invested a lot of time and effort into the preparations and now they were finally able to set off and enjoy the journey. They inform us daily about their experiences and we eagerly await every bit of news. We can hardly wait to see our Lipizzaner horses once again. The horses have proved to be up to the challenge and that could not have happened, if they had not gone into such a great home. The horses and their owners will stay with us for one more week and will also attend the driving competition (single and pair) on the 1 June in Globoko.
